Outdoor Climbing
In October 2019, I had my first outdoor climbing experience through
an REI class. The instructor set up three top-rope routes on 'Butt Rock'
in the Rock City area of Mt. Diablo State Park. Two routes were 'slab' style -
sloped in but with very small ridges, holes, and scoops for precisely setting
fingers and toes. The third route was a 'chimney' requiring wedging my
body between two sheer rock walls and inch-worming upward.
